Savings Account FAQs

Visit any branch or apply online at globalcu.org. Membership is open to anyone who lives, works, worships, or attends school in the areas we serve.

Both accounts are federally insured, carry no monthly fee, and require no minimum balance to open.

A savings account earns a stable, predictable dividend rate — the right fit if you want consistent returns and easy access to your money. A Money Market account earns a rate that adjusts based on market conditions, so your dividends can increase when rates rise. Both require a minimum daily balance to earn dividends: $50 for a Global Credit Union Savings account, $5,000 for a Global Credit Union Money Market account.

If your idle cash regularly stays above $5,000 and you want to earn more, the Money Market is the stronger choice. If you prefer simplicity and flexibility, a Savings account delivers reliable returns without the higher balance requirement.

A standard savings account is a strong fit for short-term goals like a vacation fund. There’s no monthly fee, no minimum to open, and your money stays accessible. Set up automatic deposits from your paycheck to build toward your goal on a schedule.

If your balance is likely to stay above $5,000, a Global Credit Union Money Market account can earn a higher, market-adjusted rate while keeping your funds accessible.

Either way, your deposits are federally insured up to $250,000 by the NCUA.
